4. AI-Powered Features and Data Processing
IlmCircle includes an AI-powered "Virtual Imam" feature that uses artificial intelligence to answer Islamic questions. When you use this feature:
Data Sent: Only the text of your question is sent to our AI service provider (OpenAI). No personal identifiers (name, email, location, device ID) are included in the request.
Data Storage: Your conversation history is stored on our servers so you can access past conversations. You can delete this history at any time.
AI Processing: Your question text is processed by OpenAI's servers to generate a response. OpenAI's data processing is governed by their own privacy policy and data processing agreement.
No Training: Your questions are not used to train AI models.
Consent: Before using the Virtual Imam feature for the first time, you will be asked to provide explicit consent for AI data processing.
Important: AI-generated responses are for informational and guidance purposes only. They should not replace advice from qualified Islamic scholars.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Your information is never sold to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
We may share limited information with:
Service Providers: Third-party APIs for prayer times (Aladhan), Quran text (AlQuran Cloud), and product information (Open Food Facts) - these receive only necessary query data, not personal information.
AI Services: Anonymous question text sent to OpenAI for Virtual Imam responses - no personal identifiers are included.
Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
6. Tracking and Advertising
IlmCircle does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or cross-app tracking identifiers. We do not share your data with advertisers.
The app does not:
Use advertising identifiers (IDFA)
Implement cross-app tracking
Share data with ad networks
Use analytics SDKs that track behavior across apps
Create advertising profiles
7. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely on our servers with industry-standard encryption. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
Data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS
Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. You can request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 9).
Account data: Retained until account deletion
Prayer logs: Retained until account deletion
Forum posts: May be retained anonymously after account deletion
Scan history: Retained until manually deleted or account deletion
Virtual Imam conversations: Retained until you delete them or until account deletion
9. Your Rights and Data Deletion
You have the right to:
Access: Request a copy of your personal data
Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data directly within the app (Profile > Delete Account)
Portability: Request your data in a portable format
Account Deletion: You can delete your account at any time from within the app by going to Profile > Delete Account. This will permanently remove your account and all associated data including prayer logs, forum posts, Virtual Imam conversations, scan history, and saved items. This action cannot be undone. 10. Children's Privacy
IlmCircle is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
11. Third-Party Services
Our app integrates with the following third-party services:
Apple Sign-In: For authentication on iOS devices (governed by Apple's Privacy Policy). When you use Sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email (or Apple's private relay email). We do not receive your Apple ID password.
Google Sign-In: For authentication (governed by Google's Privacy Policy). We receive your name and email from Google's authentication service.
OpenAI: For AI-powered Virtual Imam Q&A responses. Only anonymous question text is sent to OpenAI — no personal identifiers are included. Governed by OpenAI's privacy policy.
Aladhan API: For prayer time calculations. Only geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) are sent — no personal identifiers.
AlQuran Cloud: For Quran text and translations. No personal data is shared.
Open Food Facts: For product ingredient information. Only barcode numbers are sent — no personal data.
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing their use of data. We encourage you to review them.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
